When artists are battling for space in cultural memory, omission of one's contribution is a kind of murder. Therefore it becomes one's job to secure space...' - Lynn Hershman

via IFTTTi'm so fucking sick of artists who get work shown because they know how to please people. i'm sick of the venues that show them and the funders who fund them. If art was all supposed to pleasurable, we'd all be mindless idiots. i'm sick of venues booking shitty work that is 'experimental' in the least experimental way, so they and their audience's can check radical/progressive/good-for-the-homos/women/unrderprivileged off their moral checklist and never show anything actually radical ever. I'm sick of the artists who make work under the guise of experimentation only to repeat the same experiments done 50 years ago, but done without rigour, without research, without asking new questions, and most of all, making something that was once radical completely palatable, safe, and apolitical. i'm sick of a lot of things. maybe i'll do another one of these later.
